OVERVIEW
Welcome to this, the CGCW website, I hope you find it informative and useful.
The Commonwealth Games is the only multi games event that we, as a Nation compete in and also for many athletes it is the only opportunity to represent their Country, Wales. It is therefore always both an honour and privilege to be selected to represent your sport as a member of Team Wales and it is a real honour for me to be President of the CGCW and promote Welsh sport.
Preparations are well underway for the Youth Games in Pune in 2008 and the Commonwealth Games in Delhi 2010. Once again your CGCW Board of Directors is putting the needs of Athletes at the very centre of these preparations. For both our Youth team and Commonwealth Games team there is a demand that athletes show commitment, dedication and determination, our current athletes are role models whose performances and conduct will inspire and motivate our future athletes.
These Games will present one of the greatest challenges of their lives; it will not only be about winning medals but also about achieving personal goals – to be the best you can be, for yourself, your sport and your country.
In the next years we all - Directors, Medical staff, Coaches and Governing Body staff must commit to working together to achieve our common goal – to support our Athletes in performing to their potential both in Pune and Delhi.
To everyone involved in Commonwealth sport I say “seize the moment and enjoy the experience”.
